September Welcome back from a well-deserved summer break. We enter classrooms and offices to greet our students and help them sort out the division, violence and suffering extant in our city and country. We have the same questions they do, of course. While this set of circumstances is new, the challenges we face are not. Fortunately for us, the things that will bring us power, opportunity and harmony are the same ingredients that make for great unionism.

We have a lot to celebrate at the UFT as well. The residence program is a great opportunity to explore Toronto and gain some insight into what university life is really like! Application Dates: February to March Residence component: Residence optional includes tuition, six nights accommodation, daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner, supervision and evening activities. Students living in residence will take part in an enhanced excursion program. There are different options for the timing of courses in order to accommodate students who may have exams or other prior commitments.

Through a rigorous combination of classroom and experiential learning, including educational excursions throughout the city, students will prepare themselves for university while discovering the University of Toronto. The U of T Engineering Academy is pleased to offer participants the opportunity to experience what life living in a university residence is all about.

Students can opt in for the residence program for during the weeks they are registered in. Details about this new offering can be found below. High School Saturday Program encourages students to begin to explore science, engineering, math and technology in a community-oriented, confidence-building environment. Classes are divided by grade. Registration for Session One and Two are separate.

Participants do not need to register for both sessions. Please read the course descriptions carefully to see which courses are offered to which grade group. Please note that our Engineering High School program does not offer an in-depth investigation of a single-topic area. Motivated students interested in condensed study in a particular discipline should consider our DEEP Summer Academy program. Students are welcome to arrive from pm onwards. This is a community-building program that will encourage students to not only develop their academic skills in science and engineering but also gain and further develop valuable life skills.

We hope that through this experience the students become lifelong learners in the STEM fields. The goal of this program is provide and nurture opportunity for students to further enhance their leadership skills, to be exposed to various fields of engineering, and to explore the life and opportunities of a U of T Engineering Student.

Through our collaborative partnership with John Polanyi Collegiate, we are able to offer this program that allows participants to:. Blueprint is an academic enrichment program that was designed for highly motivated black students in Grades 10 and 11 who are interested in careers in Science, Technology Engineering and Math with a strong interest in Engineering.

The program includes 5 weeks of summer programming and yearlong student engagement including monthly webinars and scheduled meet-ups. This program runs from July to August. Our course features a selection of inspiring lectures, current research discussions, hands-on activities and field trips.

The last week of the program is Design and Innovation Week, where students get to explore the engineering design process and stretch their imaginations to create solutions to real-world problems. Students will leave with a basic understanding of the skills required to be in a STEM career specifically Engineering. Unfortunately, as a result of the Covid pandemic, all in-person scheduled aspects of the Blueprint program has been moved online.

Email contact: summer. UC Summer Drama for International Students introduces participants to training that is offered in a post secondary theatre program. There are two streams of the program. The first stream focuses on intensive acting workshops. Students will develop their voice and body movement, work on classical and modern scenes, and create dramatic monologues from personal writing, and even learn about acting for the camera. The second stream focuses on intensive sound design workshops that explore capturing, recording, editing and incorporating digital sound and media into performance.

Students can choose to participate in one of the two streams. Throughout the year, the International Programs offers a variety of online courses for high school students between the ages 15 to 17 who are looking to challenge themselves in a U of T virtual setting with other like-minded students from around the world.

The Global Citizenship Challenge is a one-week intensive experience in team-building and problem-solving for motivated students ready to take on real-world problems. Guided by program instructors, participants will study essential principles of teamwork and design thinking and apply their knowledge to create their own solutions to an unsolved problem affecting our global community.

The Perspectives on Global Business course is an intensive experience for students wanting to explore the nature of modern business from risk management and fundraising to marketing and creating a brand-new business.

Students will complete a capstone project where they pitch their own business ideas using a well-formulated plan. In the Perspectives on Global Health course, students will explore and analyze the complex factors that highlight key global health challenges and also have the opportunity to explore their own role in finding solutions to these challenges as engaged global citizens. The program is designed for students with all English language abilities, from beginner to advanced levels.

Students will take a mandatory morning course, and have the option of taking an afternoon course. Students who do not take an afternoon course will participate in afternoon activities. All students will participate in evening activities as well as weekend excursions.
