Review: An artist whose releases never fail to excite and dazzle in equal measure, Zombie Nation undergoes a bit of a change of "Tight" - stripping back the heavy synths he's become synonymous with and instead using lush disco string loops as the backbone, all smothered, chopped and pitch-shifted Mr Oizo-style around dry, Fake Blood-ish drums.

Arranged in a similar way to Thomas Bangalter's seminal edit of Mehdi's "Signature", the secret is all in the fast, frenetic chopped samples, something that Etienne De Crecy dispenses with on his mix, which thanks to the low, menacing synth-line running throughout, ends up weirdly sounding more ZM-like than ZM on this release!

Two definite bangers though - expect both to get rinsed by electro royalty in the coming months. Chickflick EP. Chickflick original mix - BPM.

Chickflick Siriusmo remix - BPM. Review: From the John Carpenter-referencing artwork, to the choice of excellent remixers, you know straight away that this is something to get excited about. Zombie Nation rarely disappoints, and even though diehard Kraftwerk fans might get snooty about the craven similarities between "Chickflick" and "Numbers", this is discordant, crazed mutant electro as only ZN knows how. Boris Dlugosch delivers a beautifully wigged out alternate mix, while the always fascinating Siriusmo drops one of his straightest mixes yet - slowing things down, adding a little funk here and there but pretty much just having it from the word go.

It seems approriate that I shouold blog this seeing as I was the first person to blog the orginal that I know of. Doorly has given Bonkers the dubstep touch to great effect. Doorly has done some magical things to the baseline and synth track and although nothing compares to the original… this is a great mix. I do like my dubstep in short punchy doses and this satisfies my 70bpm craving. Upon listening to this mix I had never really heard of this guy. Everything that you hear in is set his being created in the mix, there and then.

His style may best be classified as an old school block party DJ using new school technology. I just love the song… the reasons are unbeknown to me other than I love the original…. Anyway, I thought it would be a good idea to make the most of the net connection here and get blogging while I have a spare few seconds.

Diplo released a track on Monday from one of his newest projects Major Lazer feat. Santigold and Mr. Diplo threw the instrumental and acapella versions on his blog as sort of challenge to bedroom producers everywhere, and less than 24 hours later our Leht has already answered the call.

It may seem obvious in hindsight, but he mixed the Major Lazer dub with some Toto samples and a blue flame beat that emphasizes the rythmicness of the vocals much more effectivly.
