However, no matter what I do, I can't kill the cute little dingly noise the damn thing makes whenever I slide open the keyboard or shut it.
And trust me, it's a lame noise. The keys on the front have been changed a little. The directional dial is wider but, looks to be about the same height.
Better options, easier to change settings. This only happened to me once but, I found opening and closing the keyboard fixed the issue.
Never had to remove battery. This phone is an excellent phone. As stated in reviews below it's more like a Phone with smart phone capabilities and not a PDA with the phone capabilities. I have had a Motorola E which is one of the highest rated phones for the last 3 years so it was a very hard choice to make since I was replacing a very good phone.
The call quality is much better than I expected since I read some conflicting opinions. Excellent for someone who needs the PDA support that does not want something very large. The phone itself is pretty darn good. An advancement for Qwest to carry this phone from previous selections.
I have had the phone for a short amount of time and I am pleased with the performance. Did Qwest turn this function off? All in a small package. I think I'll keep it for a while. Pros: 1 Great reception: haven't dropped a call yet. Its phone 1st and PDA 2nd. Overall, I think this is a well-designed smartphone, which offers many features in a small and easy to carry package. Love this phone it looks way bigger than it actually is it does everything that my old typhoon does and more I would recommend this phone to anyone who wants a smart phone on the cdma network!!!!
I'm not a high-maintenance phone user and this device still managed to fall well short of my already low expectations. I truly can't believe it gets positive reviews. I'm assuming that there is no issue of which wifi band being used; for example, some 'mature' devices only support RickAgresta , May 2, Messages: 2 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 1. Short story: It is probably your wireless router, my phone produced exactly the same behaviour as you described and I found out it was my wireless router to blame.
For me a simple unplugging and replugging the router worked out. Long story: I have been experiencing similar problems to yours, abenn. I bought my HTC Desire yesterday, and was able to connect to my wifi network without problems. I left the wifi connection on for the night and when I woke up this morning the connection was still up but when I accessed the internet the G icon turned on and the data was returned over the mobile internet connection.
Then I proceeded and turned wifi off, on again, off again etc. I made the phone forget about my home network and re-entered the password, still nothing. I did the same when I unchecked the mobile internet connection but nothing seemed to happen exactly as how you described it. I surfed the internet using the mobile internet connection on the Desire and came across your thread, when I wanted to reply I decided to do so from a computer because I am not yet used to the on screen keyboard I used to have a HTC G1.
But the computer could not connect to the home network either, so I unplugged the wireless router, plugged it in again, waited 10 seconds or so and the computer could connect to the network again. Than I grabbed my Desire and it was already happily showing the wireless symbol. Ofcourse I tested the network connection and it achieved speeds not possible over 3G so it has to be working.
