How to program a radio shack pro-79

To add to the confusion, RS re-issued some of their scanners with new model numbers. Links for printed versions of some of these manuals sold by Scanner Master are also found here. See the article for specific models. Simulcast digital distortion Applies to digital trunktrackers. CSQ, etc. Oh wow, it let you add it? Well that's good then. Let me add it! I am thinking about putting that in my car but I don't know whether I should or not.

If I do, does it make sense to get an external antenna even though I will only be listening to frequencies and they are all around my area?

Well if you have trouble receiving the stations you want to listen to with the stock rubber antenna, then yes an external antenna would be a good investment. If you receive all the channels with no issues, even when you are driving, then it just seems like a waste of money. Now the question is how do I test the reception? Drive around? Yeah if you're just talking about testing reception with the stock antenna just drive your daily routes with the scanner, and if you're not hearing the local stations clearly you can decide to invest in an external antenna.

Would you say it would be a good investment to get an external antenna? I want to be able to hear my frequencies from 20 miles away. I'm not sure yet what number is subtracted from though, so far, it seems to be and I'm not sure under what circumstances it uses which number to subtract from. I'll keep experimenting though. Thanks for your help! Are you sure you can't be persuaded to join in the fun? Be like old times How'd you figure that out?

If I owned one of those scanners, I'd be all over it. I have a compulsion to figure out almost anything I own that has a serial port. I worked on the PRO for a while, even though I don't own one and am umlikely to ever own one. It was a good chance to work with my 92ware collaborator. Then Don Starr came along, and in a few days figured out everything we had been beating our heads against the wall on.

My next scanner software thing will be to finish the next version of 92ware, something I've been meaning to do for a bit over a year. I was sent a specification for the scanner protocol and have been able to use it to write an object oriented communications backend for my program. It can now successfully send commands to the scanner. Page Traffic Safety Doing so can create a traffic hazard and could be ille- gal in some areas. Do not listen to a continu- ous transmission. You simply determine the type of communications you want to receive, then set the scanner to scan them.

Scans the seven preprogrammed weather chan- nels. Scans any preprogrammed channels. SCAN Stops scanning and lets you directly enter a channel number. This quick look at the display will help you under- stand how your scanner operates. Appears when you lock the keypad. Indicates the search or scan direction. Appears when the scanner receives a data error D-Err during wired programming. Appears when you program a 2-second delay. Appears when the scanner has finished wired programming. Page Understanding Banks Appears when you turn the key tone on.

Appears when the priority feature is turned on. SCAN Appears when the scanner scans channels. You cannot change them. Page 22 Channel Frequency MHz Page 23 Channel This is handy for quickly storing an active frequency when you are searching through an entire band.

You can store a frequency into a monitor memory during a service bank, or direct search. Page Operation 4. Page Resetting The Scanner Then gently press the reset button inside the open- ing.

Information disappears from the display as you press the reset button.
